BarCamp participants reached the camp without incident. Now people are putting up tents, setting up.

This year, lectures will be held in two large tents for the first time. It’s a reliable sun, wind and rain protection. One of them is located right on the field. At night it will be turned into a big stage, which will host a rock concert.

Moscow experts have already arrived to BarCamp. They are: a well-known sociologist Alexei Levinson, a member of the network community "Dissernet" Alexander Rostovtsev, a member of the Human Rights Council Sergey Krivenko.

A new Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Komi Nadezhda Bykovskaya also took part in BarCamp. By the way, she was dressed very informally and quickly blended into surroundings.

There are two important points next to the main tent — the registration desk and a cafe where you can buy food. Thanks to the restaurant "Sysola" which prepared several dishes for lunch, dinner and breakfast.

A director of «7x7» Pavel Andreev also spoke at the opening of the Third Syktyvkar BarCamp. He said that two very important people are missed this time: a photographer of the newspaper "Krasnoye Znamya" Andrei Shopsha and a member of KHRC "Memorial" Alexander Borisovich Ostrovsky, who left this year. They both took a direct part in organizing the event. Photos made by Andrei are still used for illustrations of BarCamp.

While there are presentations, the participants leave messages on a special board. Beside wishes, there is also practical information offering to sell Scottish kittens or even kidney.

Human rights activist and editor of the site "Caucasian Knot" Gregory Shvedov is trying to improve the understanding of such notions as manipulation and propaganda, bringing listeners into the conversation. Gradually moved on to talk about the welfare of society. The point at this issue is that you shouldn’t just scold government, but you can also do something yourself.

Syktyvkar social activist and photographer Sergei Kotov told how he and a group of comrades had been refining a garden square for three weeks.

According to Shvedov, the next step is needed. For example, not just to pick up trash, but also to do something to induce people to stop littering.

However, one of the listeners doesn’t agree with Gregory and decides to add a "fly in the ointment". He argues that social movements, for example for the environment or for the preservation of monuments, eventually degenerate into political. The second point — we shouldn’t do a job of government, that we pay taxes for. For example, according to him, it is better to "force the housing department into submission ".

Shvedov agrees only partly. He thinks that we should do something together, find companions and not just "pull your hair out".

Representative of the Youth Human Rights Movement (MTD) of Voronezh Maria Gordeeva began to speak on the second stage of BarCamp. Maria talks about comics, "which are capable of something", and namely about the project "Respect".

“There is a well-known Russian comic book writer Khikhus, who was beaten by skinheads; after that he spent a long time in hospital. The first thing he wanted to do is to revenge. But later he had a more positive idea. So the comics have appeared designed to work with the problem of aggression in society,” Maria explained.

A team was assembled, the result of which was the project "Comics from different countries for respect and uvazhuha". Besides, a human rights activist Andrei Yurov deals with the same issues, he will speak at BarCamp tomorrow and talk about the situation with human rights in Ukraine.

Olga Minyuk speaks on the first stage along with the speech of Maria Gordeeva. She talks about the Youth Forum "Ladoga" near St. Petersburg, a la "Seliger". The speaker praises the forum and promises that photographer Andrei Stanislavsky, also a member of this forum, will continue the story tomorrow.

“I'll talk about the "dark side",” Andrei promises.

In the meantime there is a speech of a member of the Human Rights Council under the President of Russia Sergey Krivenko. In the beginning he announced a master class of tomorrow. He, along with a lawyer, will talk about the problem moments with the call.

“There is no need to be afraid of the call, a military enlistment office is just an administrative body. A person has three choices: to serve, not to serve on medical grounds, and go to alternative civilian service. Tomorrow we will open a mobile advisory center to clarify the rights of conscripts, he said. Starting at 11:00.

A doctor by education Alexei Chernyh distinguished the concept of "science" and "pseudoscience". Science is a set of ordered objective knowledge about a certain kind of activity, a special activity that seeks to multiply the first definition, as well as a collection of public institutions.

Pseudoscience is a sphere of activity, which is trying to sound like science, but it is not. It seems like everything is clear. However, he surprisingly said that he was "sore at science when he got into it", and, according to him, all the things children are taught at school is not a science.

Activist Pavel Safronov devoted his speech to the way the urban projects come to life in Syktyvkar. Let us recall that recently a branch of joint project of Ilya Varlamov and Maxim Katz was launched in the capital of the republic. A dozen of volunteers have joined Pavel’s team. One of the most important initiatives of activists is a bikeway construction.

“We proposed administration a brazen idea: we want a bikeway from the railway station to the river. Mayor Ivan Pozdeev offered a bikeway only on the territory of the Kirov Park. The government has proposed to conduct it in the park to the Krasnaya Mountain. We insist on our own initiative that the authorities have done something, because if our requests would be modest, probably nothing would be done”.

Historian Sergei Mitrofanov is delved into the theme of "manipulation in the Bible", the text of which he studies in Hebrew and understands the differences of interpretations.

He explained the audience of his fascinating lecture, if God created woman for Adam, because he was supposedly lonely. "After all, the child doesn’t feel bad without candy, when he doesn’t know what the candy is. He feels bad when the candy is given once and then taken away".

“By the way, there is no word "apple" in the text, and it is not yet clear what fruit they actually ate,” the expert added.

Moreover, he debunked the myth that the hero of the story of the first murder — Cain — presented in the Bible with "minus", and his brother Abel — with a "plus".

Conclusion that Sergei Mitrofanov made: often people are ready to brainwash themselves, manipulate and to see things that don’t exist. And we live in an era where it is particularly successful.

“With all our patriotism, we still can’t determine how many people have died during the war: 20 or 40 million, and it is a huge difference! In America, for example, they know everyone by name, when and under what circumstances he died,” the historian concluded.

Important notice! We record all the speeches and will upload them in some time.

One of the last performances of the evening was the report of the social activist Marina Sedova on how passengers may affect public transport. She started with tablets with a written schedule of different routes. The assembled audience was a target one, most of the listeners actively use public transport. They lively joined the debate, answering questions about what is wrong in the tablets, as well as sharing thoughts on what would be nice to fix in the public transport services in general.

Speech of Nikolai Yurkin had a pretty intriguing title — "The truth about alcohol". The speaker was creatively different and explained why you shouldn’t abuse for those who may not know, and for those who knew, but began to forget. He noted that nowadays an anti-alcohol propaganda is very weak in the country. The main reasons why people abuse: first, because it is available, and because the mass television and movies massively promote the image of the positive hero who is "always with a glass". The speaker argues that there are two theories of propaganda — the struggle with alcoholism and the struggle for sobriety. Furthermore, Yurkin, poring over history, has proved that there was no tradition for the abuse of alcohol. Consumption of intoxicating beverages was considered an abomination in Russia, but with Peter the Great it became the norm. Until the 19th century, alcohol was not used effectively. And in the middle of the 19th century there was even an anti-alcohol riot, comparable to Pugachev uprising.

That is how the participants listened to a lecture of Yurkin.

A specialist of a community network "Dissernet" Andrei Rostovtsev is speaking now. He talks about how politicians, businessmen and university presidents copy off their thesis. The listeners are naturally laughing as some respected people manage to write off a lot of work by simply replacing a few words in it. For example, beef to chocolate.

Andrei Rostovtsev noted that "Dissernet" doesn’t make revelations. This is not an end in itself. People explore landscapes of reputation and reveal competence of people. As the expert said, community experts identified that a State Duma deputy copied his thesis from another deputy of the State Duma. At the same time, they had one common scientific adviser, who replicated scientific work among his "sons". Such cases are called "nests".

According to Andrei Rostovtsev, there is a whole market of fake works in Russia, because the state is not going to deal with it. Main enemies of "Dissernet" are the officials, including the Minister of Education Livanov. But experts are going to work on, because they "just tore the bottom of the tree".

And now it’s time to melt. Today, the experts of the Family Education Center "LADiYa" worked with children all day long. Made boats of shells, "Dreamcatcher" and headbands, fished and went mushrooming. Children's program will be continued tomorrow.

There is now a debate about whether there is a conspiracy of the world backstage. We won’t retell, we’ll better upload the video later.

In the meantime, a few pictures of the camp’s life.

It was also Nikolai Golikov, editor of "Vyatskaya Osobaya" newspaper in Kirov, who spoke this afternoon. He spoke on how an opposition newspaper survives under hard pressure. "Vyatskaya Osobaya" has been in the status of the forbidden for eight years, while an access to the points of sale is completely denied, and advertisers are often reluctant to cooperate only because "there was a call from above". Publications cause agiotage and frustration, the administration continues to keep an eye on the newspaper, but officials say that the newspaper publishes the best jokes.

Nikolai admitted that the pressure is not only from the authorities: in time they "lost" colleagues, buddies and friends for writing the truth. But Nikolai is proud of the fact that its next issue is published. What is important is still a victory in the fight for honest journalism.

And we are in the midst of the night program. Syktyvkar musicians are performing on the big stage. A music ensemble "Lisyi pesni" is singing for the audience now. At the same time there are gatherings around the campfire. People introduce themselves one by one, calling their names and the city in which they were born.

We post a few photos and say goodbye to you until tomorrow. The beginning of the first master-class (from the Youth Center of Syktyvkar about writing grant applications) at 10:00. The rest is according to schedule. Come to visit us!
