Green Party candidate Artem Kungurtsev filed a lawsuit with the Chelyabinsk Oblast Court seeking to revoke the registration of his rival, Yaroslav Shcherbakov, as a State Duma candidate. The hearing is scheduled for Monday, September 7.
The claims involve alleged copyright violations related to a video featuring Banksy graffiti, a photo of academic Andrei Sakharov, and a recording of Shcherbakov's speech at a Yabloko party congress. The party's press service did not specify whose rights Shcherbakov had allegedly violated.
Virtually nothing is known about the plaintiff, and Yabloko's local branch considers him a spoiler candidate. According to the Election Commission's website, Kungurtsev is 29 years old, self-employed, and graduated from South Ural State College in 2018.
